Inventory Accounting Story
November 20th, 2007 | by admin |A while back I was sweeping out an old warehouse as a favor for a friend who has recently closed a business due to a death in the family. Instead of taking over the business, he was selling it out because he didn’t know anything about the product. I knew a little about the product from a former job I had that used a similar product. I asked him if I could buy some of the old inventory from him and rent the warehouse. He had nothing better to do with the products so he sold them to me dirt cheap. I advertised a little and started getting some calls and sold the merchandise rather quickly. I then used the smalll profits to buy some more from my friend and then sold it too. With these profits I bought more inventory and wisely bought a program that would do my inventory accounting. I was very surprised at how fast the business grew over the next year or so. I had accidentally found myself a generous business that my friend wanted nothing to do with. I eventually bought out his entire remaining inventory and built a very large business out of a small idea. Without the inventory accountingprogram, I would not have been able to concentrate on the sales and marketing end of the business because I’d have been way too busy with the inventory problems. The point I’m trying to make is don’t undervalue a good business software program because it can make you a lot of money and profit simply by allowing you the time and manpower to do the job the way it needs to be done.
