Training on the force gives you the experience to be a private investigator
March 2nd, 2008 | by admin |I was surprised to discover that many private investigators that handle criminal cases are usually former police detectives or investigators from one of the major Federal agencies. Many of them only joined the police force to gain the experience of almost two years of field work before being allowed to sit the private investigators certificate examinations. They can also clock up the hours by working as an apprentice at a private investigation agency specializing in criminal investigation. Most investigators appear to have "served their time" in the police force, some of them retired veterans before becoming private investigators.
