I want to know the solution for the following problems. We planned to buy a house for cash, and saw one straight away that we liked. My offer was accepted, and I paid deposit. On the day of the closing, the owner announced that there was a government tax lien on the house. We did not feel we had any other option but to move into the house while the owner sorted out her IRS problem. The owner moved out and has subsequently disappeared. I have since found out that the IRS lien is a very huge sum. We have no idea where the owner is, and are stuck not being able to buy the house. I am extremely worried that the IRS could repossess the house without me even realizing. As it stands I do not want to move out, as I have already lost my deposit, and we love the house. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?
