I hate to say it, but the cable modem speed has been great in my area since the housing bust. There are way less people on my block, so the shared usage is minimal. My neighbor is mildly regretting buying his T1 dedicated line but is convinced that it will be worth it once the housing market recovers in our area. It’s still worth it in that he gets the reliability, stability and speed that a T1 leased line provides regardless of how much better it is than a cheaper available area service. I might jump on the bandwagon once the neighborhood fills back up, but for now I’m enjoying the lack of lag while using all of these new great web 2.0 applications and streaming video.
