The Future Of Gps Loran

Despite being there for a long time now, there is no surety as such of the existence of the Loran. Being a government maintained and operated system; the existence of the GPs Loran is subject to public policy. There is a certain set of people that has been demanding the elimination of the system due to a host of reasons. These reasons include few users, lack of cost effectiveness, and the superiority of the GNSS as compared to Loran. On the other hand there are certain factors that stand to be in support of the system such as strong signals that are difficult to jam and the independence of the system. The future of Loran, therefore, remains a bit uncertain.
