Effect Of Smoking On Lung Cancer
May 31st, 2008 | by admin |Smoking is known to be one of the major causes of lung cancer. The cigarette smoke contains cancer agents known as carcinogens. It is known to cause lung cancer by damaging the cells forming the lining of the lungs.
At first the immune system repairs the damage done to lung tissue. However if the lungs continue to come in contact with the cigarette smoke on a regular basis, severe changes happen in the lung tissues.
In this case not even the immune defense system can repair the damage. At this time the cancerous changes start appearing in the lungs. These changes then start spreading to other parts of body.
