Support Groups Expose The Isolation That Works Against Full Recovery
September 22nd, 2008 | by admin |The support groups at eating disorder clinics do not get enough credit for the success these groups can have on an individual’s life when overcoming an eating disorder. Participating in a support group will keep individuals from feeling alone and ashamed. Isolation is an effective enemy in keeping a person bound by an eating disorder. The support groups are generally run by peers, not professionals. This helps an individual to see that they are not the only ones who are suffering from an eating disorder illness. Interacting with people who have overcome the illness is a great encouragement that their own recovery is possible.
