The Unheard of fact about Affordable health care
June 8th, 2008 | by admin |In America it has always been the aim to provide medical services that are paid for by the individual but affordable health care is becoming difficult to find. Many companies are now increasing the charges, for providing this service to their workers or cutting back on the level of cover. It's because I'm one of the many affected by this that I know because prior to this year my company's health care package was really good. Suddenly, my employer announced it was getting too expensive and was switching health care providers.
The company was seeking a more cost effective plan that would benefit all of its employees. Although I am just as well looked after with this new policy, I'm not entirely convinced. To some extent I do agree, but their search for another provider now costs me double the money from my paychecks to have my husband and daughter on my policy. So basically in order for all the employees to benefit where I work, I have to pay double but my pay remains the same so I am actually taking home less.
From what I have seen, this new company we are with is not in the same league as the old one even though I still seem to have a reasonably good plan. For many of us, higher out of pocket expenses and less in our paychecks is the only result of this pursuit of an affordable health care plan. You see, four years ago, I gave birth to a little girl and of course my old insurance paid for the whole of my hospital stay. I sat and worked out the cost of this new plan and if I were to stay in hospital now and have a baby it would cost around 4,000 dollars out of my own pocket. It will even cost much for snoring cures which is just a minor problem.
However, that amount is just for the hospital and delivery because I would also have other expenses and that just doesn't seem fair to the majority that are involved. Luckily there are more and more affordable health care programs being created to help those that do not have any coverage. Those less fortunate can now get free health care more readily and workers without health care are able to join special schemes. I applaud the set up of these programs but not enough is done to stop those that wish to take advantage and ruin it for others.
Those less well off are in need of these affordable health care schemes but they are also used by those who are intent on living of the state and do not actually contribute to society. I get annoyed because it's the upright taxpayer who has to finance these schemes for the needy and not the state. My employer definitely found advantages in finding a lower cost health plan provider for their employees! However, their money saving technique wasn't good news to employees because suddenly we were making up for their cost cutting endeavor - by seeing less money in our paychecks. Something needs to be done in this country to offset rising costs and provide more affordable health care to those who are in need.
