Huey Lewis was approached to record the theme for Ghostbusters, but he turned them down. I guess the studio basically went “Screw you, Huey”, and got RPJ to do the same song, differently enough to not get sued.

I guess the differently enough part didn’t work.

They are literally my favorite band ever and yes they are still together thankfully. Their sports album ranked #2 behind michael jacksons thriller in 1984. They beat both prince and Bruce Springsteen on the album charts. Quite an accomplishment for a random bar band. Allmusic praises them, as do I, and all their other fans.

Look at the copy rights for this song> I do believe it came out first in the early 80’s
I remember hearing this on the radio before the movie Ghostbusters.

Well apparently Huey & the news were asked to do the theme music to Ghostbusters but turned it down due to BTTF.

The main riff to Ghostbusters is a pretty blatant rip off of this song so no wonder there was a settlement.

Little to no comparison. It ripped nothing really…..you can’t really compare them because there is a tiny resemblance. Huey just got his panties in a bunch.

If you loved the 80’s, then you weren’t there. It was the decade when music turned shit, and things havent gotten any better since.
