Violence Against Women Act For Batter Spouse Immigrants

May 12th, 2009 | by admin |

Spouse immigration is going on continuously as we speak. Of those, there are a large percentage of marriages that result in a women being controlled, beat or treated as property because her husband is the only means of her being in a country for which she worked so hard to enter. For a long time there weren’t any programs or resources for these battered women. They had no where to turn. They would either be deported or beaten. The Violence Against Women Act has made it possible for these women to obtain green cards even thought they will be self-sponsored. It’s relief that will be greatly appreciated.
